For the first time since 2007, the server saw the immortal KTRI message warning of shut down for patch.
Here are the details:
Patch 1.0113
This is just a small test patch, mainly systems verification and some small code changes in line with current needs.
Not much to get excited about, besides the fact that if all goes well, this will be the first time since 2007 we've patched, and we will continue to do so.
v.1.0113 - June 30, 2010 REVIVAL TEST PATCH
------------------------------------------
-Corrected a problem with old cheat detection in sim related to shields. Should eliminate a source of 1hr kicks.
-Set default channel for all new players to be :chat instead of :help.
-Added new /slash command for EPs and GMs to list any new players in game (since they won't be found on :help).
-Changed keyboard roll controls to not be continuous. i.e. roll halts on release now, to aid new pilots.
-Increased maximum FM progress contribution of a delivery 10x from 50u to 500u.

Today GM Istvan was able to publicly reveal what several of us had known for some time now... he ... is ... back. Here below is his announcement (cue the BSG intro theme):
Back to When we had a Future
In the summer of 2006, Scott Brown had a Plan: We were going to finally take Jumpgate and spruce it up a bit. I really liked his Plan, and I was excited to be a part of it. I gladly joined the team that was being assembled to undertake the project, though it meant I would have to stop work on what we then began to call Jumpgate "Classic".
There's more than one expression about the "best-laid plans", and I know I don't need to tell you that the Plan changed. It's now 2010, and the "spruced-up Jumpgate", Jumpgate Evolution, is still in progress today. However, for more than one reason, that project has become something very different from what in 2006 we were originally planning to make.
To me, Jumpgate always has held a huge untapped potential. Over these last few years, as I increasingly recognized that our new game was striking out on its own, and was less and less an inheritor of the legacy of the original Jumpgate, I found myself looking upon my years supporting Jumpgate Classic with increasing fondness.

After some months of quiet monitoring coupled with an uncertain JGC/JGE future, I have taken the first steps to expand our gaming clan into the MMO Black Prophecy, which is now in closed BETA Test.
The game play and storylines I've seen so far are pretty close to what we've seen in JGC over the years, and with many of the elements that JGE had prior to recent revisions. I think that we could make a good fit over in that universe and have a darn good time.
I encourage all New Dawn pilots to check out their site and participate in our internal discussions on the forums.
